After nearly 3 incredible and productive years at Gannett working for  The News Journal/DelawareOnline, I’ve decided it’s time to move on.

I’m taking the opportunity to join an full service, digital agency on the cutting edge of digital development.

I’ll be a member of an expansive web development team that Iexpect to learn a great deal from and contribute a great deal to.

I couldn’t be more excited about this new chapter in my professional career.

While I anticipate it’s many challenges, I look forward to them molding me into a more agile and intelligent developer.

I’m leaving behind a good deal of friends and fond memories at the Journal.

I certainly had some great times working with some fantastic people and wish them the best moving forward.

Spark 6 Birthday bash tonight!

Tonight is Spark’s 6th Birthday and who better to celebrate it with than me and nearly all of the friends I can possibly get to drive down to Newark!

Fall in Delaware

Thanksgiving is almost here. For most its a time to reflec t and consider what around them has truly effected and impacted their life in a positive manner, for me it’s a time to see all that I have and for one moment try not to take it for granted.

Here’s what I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving:

• Awesome friends…people that I could not simply live without
• My Family, especially in Mass….I love those guys with a great passion
• My Blue Demon…that car is awesome
• My office…I have a great job, great leadership and great co-workers around me
• New experiences….things I’ve gotten to do over the past year that I never have before
• A great God..that loves, forgives and gives grace beyond understanding
• New music…that gets me through the work week, tough mornings and life
• Opportunities…to meet, get to know and work with really incredible individuals
• DSL….my after work joy in playing the various games

Friends and I at the Maine Brewfest

Cranny, Nick, Travis and I spent a weekend in Maine visiting with Travis’s brother and girlfriend, family and some of his friends. We went to the Maine Brewfest and got to see some of the sights. It was a great trip.

Fort Williams

• Maine beer is very sweet
• Microbreweries are everywhere
• Someone you know there knows either a seaman or a lumberjack
• Beards, beards beards…for men and some women
• By 4:30 it’s pitch black
• The sign to the Portland Airport leads you to believe its just a small business park
• Beer can be served with almost every meal and if not there’s an excuse or 2 why there should be
• The Maine “eh” and the Canadian “eh” are not the same
• Really friendly people in Maine
• You can buy beer in grocery stores AND convenience stores
• Maine beer is a little strong and hardly no one drinks it lite
• The coast of Maine is beautiful, no matter where you see it
• My favorite beer of the night/weekend Allagash’s White Belgium beer
• Bonus: According to Travis half the bars in Portland remind him of places in Trolley

Usually after I’m sick I make some sort of list like this one. Regaining my health gives me a healthy appreciation for it.

With that…changes to make:

• No fast food (admittedly I don’t often eat it but having a no on the matter helps)
• Eating less at restaurants (admittedly on the other end…I eat out way too much)
• Cooking more (makes sense once you remove the 2nd)
• Canoe/kayak/boat….more. (I love the water, why have I not taken the time to be out there more?)
• Organize my rooms, get rid of things (I really have too much crap; there’s no need for a lot of the clutter)
• Establish a more solid morning ritual (Right now it consists of breakfast, TV and occasionally working out, it needs to be better)
• No donuts (my inner fat kid loves donuts but I shouldn’t eat them)
• Eat more pineapple
• Drink more teas

Those are good, basic things I can accomplish…and though the impact won’t be an extreme one on my life, sometimes the best decisions aren’t very drastic.

Sofa King Bar Crawl

Tonight the Sofa Kings play at 6pm, at the Riverfront in the DSL Kickball Season 2 opener against 16 Ton Gunz. After a 5-1 and 1 season that took us to the Elite 8 in the playoffs we start fresh again tonight.

I’m really looking forward to seeing these guys, playing some kickball and having some fun.

Like any other season  our family has changed, loosing a few and gaining a few, but all in all we’re going to be a tight group.  We’re a family in kickball and in life and I utterly love these guys!

Cheers, raise your glasses high to what is going to be  another great season!

Things influence us, effect us all of the time. Sometimes for good, sometimes for bad but what ends up happening is…we change. We evolve slowly from the current to our future beings. It can be fun to think about, tomorrow I’ll be just slightly different than I am today. Maybe I’ll be slightly more disciplined, patient or compassionate. Perhaps I’ll be less of all of them but regardless I won’t always be the same.

The direction of the change, this evolution, is key. So which direction are you evolving?

What’s fun about the future is that it’s unknown. It is undiscovered, challenging, curiously intriguing.

For me, though I’d like to think I always know where I’m going…I don’t. Its alright not to know while sticking to a rough path.

Its all about the beauty of the unknown…

Or just a great game with some buddies we got to know from Dodgeball…in any event, go fn’ sapphires!

It can be anything.

When people think of you in the next days, months, years what would you like them to think? Say?

I want to be remembered as genuine.

I know it sounds corny, but I want people to remember me for being a genuine person, not only through my words but also in my actions.

I want those I’ve effected, influenced, cared for, loved, worked with, etc to think of me as a person who was honest and sincere in everything I did.

Someone free from hypocrisy and pretense. That showed care and love for the people around him.

How do you want to be remembered? One word, that’s all you’ve got.

When I die…

People get so focused on what tomorrow brings that they hardly see what beauty and elegance are found in today.
Just today.
Live today, tomorrow’s always a day a way and future “you”…can care about it then.
Its a great day, whatever it is.
Savor it.
Enjoy this moment, right now, whatever you’re doing, wherever you are, no matter what the circumstance.

Find joy in something more than nothing.
Find peace in the absence of trouble, stress, derailment.

Live for this moment, the next moment is coming on its own and doesn’t care about how concerned you are about it.

There’s more to living than being alive…but that’s for another time…maybe the next-day.

I am a native New Yorker and a New Englander at heart. I love the cold, brisk weather. Its in my veins to be colder than I am warmer. When I vacation I go to Massachusetts to visit my family, or New York when my grandmother used to live there. I live for the cold.
That’s why I’ve never been further south or west…than West Virginia. Crazy, I know. But when you love the cold weather and the intrinsically beautiful northeast…why go anywhere else?

Well…tomorrow I’ll answer the question…why not? We’re taking our mandatory week off to spend a week down in Florida. Fort Myers to be exact, to do anything and everything non-work related. We’ll hit the Everglades, the beach, a spring training ball game…and who knows what. It doesn’t matter, we’ll be away from it all on a MUCH-needed vacation.

From the 21st through midday on the 30th you won’t find me anywhere near the internet, a computer, office building or whiteboard. The closest thing to that will be my ideabook, smartphone and camera. That’s it.
No blogs, email, facebook…call me if you need me…otherwise I’m out.
