Usually after I’m sick I make some sort of list like this one. Regaining my health gives me a healthy appreciation for it.

With that…changes to make:

• No fast food (admittedly I don’t often eat it but having a no on the matter helps)
• Eating less at restaurants (admittedly on the other end…I eat out way too much)
• Cooking more (makes sense once you remove the 2nd)
• Canoe/kayak/boat….more. (I love the water, why have I not taken the time to be out there more?)
• Organize my rooms, get rid of things (I really have too much crap; there’s no need for a lot of the clutter)
• Establish a more solid morning ritual (Right now it consists of breakfast, TV and occasionally working out, it needs to be better)
• No donuts (my inner fat kid loves donuts but I shouldn’t eat them)
• Eat more pineapple
• Drink more teas

Those are good, basic things I can accomplish…and though the impact won’t be an extreme one on my life, sometimes the best decisions aren’t very drastic.

I’ve helped people before; there’s never a convenient time to give someone a hand, but I’ve never done it when it truly is the “worst” time for myself. Usually I help others on my time or in place of something else…but I can never think of an occasion where I did an act of service over something important to me.

Why do I care? Why is this even on my mind? Because I want the mentality of a servant, a helper, someone who sincerely cares for others and their well being. It’s what I strive to be but fall short on so often. I’m always full of myself and my own personal needs that I hardly look to help anyone else out. Its in my nature to be selfish and introverted. That needs to change; I want it to change…it starts with putting others above yourself. Loving your neighbor without reward, incentive or even gratitude. It’s about being more than what we currently are, expanding ourselves in personal growth by deepening our character and love for our fellow man. It starts with putting people and their needs above our own…

I want to serve you my friend and if you ever need me I want to be there.
You’re important to me, especially if you don’t know it and I hope I can be there for you if you ever need me…especially if it interferes with my life.

It can raise heart rates, emotional states, and even has the ability to cure.

This post is rather short, because I am in awe of the simple human touch.

Garnering press from WDEL and the News Journal (twice) we had well over 50 people come through Iron Hill on the Riverfront. There was food, fellowship and a real chance to meet people who’s lives you so intently read about in 140 characters or less.

Its funny and an interesting sign of the times for me that we’ll meet someone digitally before we meet them personally, in real life on occasion.

I suppose its better than shutting down entirely.

A lot of newspapers are starting to go web-only, but looking at the website…its clearly not an option for them.

Marc goes into how it is so hard for him to write a poem about his wife, Angel despite the many things that he could write, say, etc. Nothing seemed it fit, no two words would rhyme. I can relate to this and if you’re a writer than perhaps you can to.

It seems that the things closest to us, but not us,  are the hardest to write about.

Apparently this will be as cool as 25 things I don’t care about, but it takes about 2 mins to write.
