P2P Highlights

Sunday marked the first annual DSL Point to Point Bus Trip.  Despite the chilly temperatures and the gloomy forecast, those who signed up congregated in the Trolley Square Parking Lot wearing their best fancy rain gear. Anita Jimerson won the big hat award and Chris Connelly was top dog in the sweater vest category. Of course everyone’s favorite photographer Alessandra Nicole showed up with camera in tow. She is so talented she managed to upload and tag photos on Facebook before Point to Point even started! Everyone, minus Carrie Wolf, who was off being a true friend, was checked in, received their wrist bands, and was loaded on the bus by 9am. Woohoo for us following the scheduled itinerary. The only problem was Bobby D was preparing for his trip to Tennessee and was already working on Central Time. Dawn Brown and her infamous Jell-o shots and Reddi Whip helped us pass the time ‘til he got there. When we finally entered Gate 2 and the bus dropped us off, we were happy with the delay in arriving as the rain had begun. The rules state no tents, but Brian Rubin saved the day when he had is roommate Sam drop one off. Joe Calabrese’s VW bus then became home base at space 28. Once the tent was up and the food spread out, the party began. BTW – Bobby D did a phenomenal job on the food, especially the tortellini salad. Poorvi Patel thought she was auditioning for A Girls Gone Wild Bus Trip and consumed two drinks in one hour! Nikki Baldwin and Jayme Fields wandered off but magically reappeared wearing different, much more rain appropriate, clothing. No one saw Grandpa after he stepped off the bus. It’s rumored he was seen leading a very pretty young lady behind the barn. As 3 pm approached, we all gathered back at spot 28. Dawn Brown found her way proclaiming that ‘she had never been wetter.’ It was a long strange trip to find the bus home. At least we were entertained by the girls trying to walk in 6 inches of mud wearing flip flops or their high heals. Numerous people had trouble staying on their feet. If you wear white pants and heals to Point to Point in the rain and mud, you almost deserve to come home covered in mud. Once the mystery of the missing bus was solved and we were all safely aboard, the adventure did not stop. Chris Martinez wanted to know why the bus smelled like butterscotch. And evidently, Dupont Street has now become a two way street. But by 4:30, we all made it back to Trolley Square in one piece.

Thanks Bobby D and Joe Calabrese for helping to organize such a fun trip and creating more wonderful DSL memories.  The plans for 2010 have already begun. First order of business, NO RAIN!!!!
